Do you plan to attend a Sale by Transitions?

Here are some things to keep in mind for your visit:

  • Our sales occur in our clients homes. Please behave as though you are a guest in these spaces.

  • Sales typically run from 9-4 on Saturdays.

  • Bring your own bags and boxes for shopping with and for purchases.

  • Our team is here to help you - we will mark items that you intend to purchase with your name to hold it for you while you continue to shop.

    • You must be at the item you intend to purchase. You may call a staff member over to mark the item for you. The first person at the item waiting for a staff member to assist them will be the buyer.

    • Putting your name on an item indicates a commitment to purchase it - you must inspect the item being marked before a staff member marks it for you.

    • We also try to have a table handy to hold items for you.

  • Many people arrive early and line up. Some people bring chairs to sit in while waiting. Transitions does not monitor or manage the line - it is an honour system. Please see the section on The Chairs at Transitions.

  • We limit the number of people into the home at any one time.

  • Shoes will have to be removed inside the home. Unfortunately accidents happen and people leave with the wrong shoes. Transitions is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

  • We do not advertise prices in advance of our sales.

    • Any prices that you may have seen in sale photos are subject to change. If you zoom into a photo and see a price, that price may change up to and including the morning of the sale.

    • Once the sale starts, we may advertise items online. We will often publish a price with those items. They are sold on a First Come First Served basis and we don’t hold items for individuals.

  • If we advertise an item or have included an item in a sale photo we intend to sell it, however, our clients have the ability to remove items from our sales at any time. It doesn’t happen often, but it does happen.

  • We accept Cash, Credit, and Debit. We do not accept cheques or e-transfer.

  • We do not have publicly accessible washrooms at our sales.

  • We will not hold items for you or pre-sell items to you. The sale will be during the posted hours only.

  • We do not continue to sell items when a sale is done. If you didn’t make your purchase during the sale hours, unfortunately you have missed your opportunity.

  • Transitions does not have a carry out or delivery service. You are responsible to move and remove your purchases from the sale before the end of the sale day.

    • You are responsible to bring people to safely move items so that they don’t harm people or damage the sale location.

    • We may be able to make alternate pick-up arrangements for large items - it doesn’t hurt to ask.

    • If a staff member is helping someone to move something it is because we aren’t monsters. Generally we are helping people with mobility issues or to ensure that we are clearing space to help the sale along. Helping is at our discretion.

  • Our staff are here to help, and we love to have a great time during a sale: but we won’t tolerate any verbal abuse or hostility. Anyone acting hostile or abusive will be asked to leave.

  • We expect our customers to behave appropriately. Sometimes our sales are exciting and people get over-zealous, but we have zero tolerance for running, pushing, shoving, or any violence or aggression towards staff or other customers.

  • Our goal is to have a great sale day! We Hope to see you there.

The Chairs at Transitions

Transitions customers have a long tradition of lining up early for our sales! They bring lawn chairs and visit with the other early risers and people in line. Many have made long-lasting friendships through their time at our sales. We encourage people to come early and line up in their chairs. But like all good things, sometimes problems occur so we are putting a few rules in place for the chairs to reduce some of the problems.

  1. You must be on site - you may go to your parked car to warm up or get shelter from the elements but you cannot leave your chair unattended and go home or out. The only exception would be to run for a bathroom break.

If you leave your chair unattended it should only be for a brief reprieve. Let the people next to you know you will be returning.

  2. Once people begin to line up behind your chair in person (without chairs) you must go and take your place in line.

  3. No-one around you in line should be surprised that you are there or where your place in line is.

Our goal is to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable sale. As noted, we do not monitor the lines to come into our sales, and expect everyone to use the honour system.

If there is an issue, please have a staff member come out to resolve the matter.

Happy Sale Day!
